i will remember her:
wandering beside me in the food store by her apartment, aisles unfamiliar to me. i had a recipe in hand that i wouldn’t let her see. dairy aisle, frozen aisle, baking aisle. chocolate, chocolate, more chocolate, two ramekins. at her place, she watched television and checked on me with curious kisses now and again as i baked. a surprise: lava cakes, her favourite dessert. the first set was a little more lava than cake, but that was our way. in time, i got them right.
