i will remember her:

sitting in the cab beside me, my body curled into her left side, her arm around me, hand in my hair, comforting. it was the early afternoon the day after my birthday. i was stressed from the ordeal with hotel complications and anything involving money makes me feel inadequate. she knew without asking and she held me as we headed downtown to a hole-in-the-wall crepe place. all plans awry, she just held me.
